Involvement of students, professors and companies in transfer of knowledge and experience between the pedagogical and business practice.

The foundations of the scientific research and development work at the DOBA Faculty of Applied Business and Social Sciences Maribor are aimed at the implementation of development projects and the cooperation with closer and wider region. An important objective in the field of development and research activities is to deepen and strengthen the research and development work in various disciplines of social and business sciences as well as in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research.

Strategic directions for the scientific research and development work are as follows:

  • development of research and advisory activities in the professional fields of DOBA Faculty, with special emphasis on entrepreneurship, regional development, innovatory activities and issues of small and medium-sized enterprises,
  • enrichment and support of the teaching process by involving students and professors in activities of the Business Institute as well as by transferring knowledge and experience between pedagogical process and business practice through intensive cooperation with Slovenian companies and practical assistance in solving their problems,
  • enforcement of the role of DOBA Faculty as a player that achieved good results in research and advisory work, in development of legislation, policies and in creation of supportive environment for a successful development of creative entrepreneurship and innovatory activities in Slovenia.

The research and development work takes place at the registered research group Business Research Institute, which was established to bring together theory and practice. A modern Bologna-oriented higher education study requires a close ties with the practice and should be supported by research work, promoting cooperation between professors and students.

Development work is carried out within the centres, where researchers and professors exchange their knowledge and experience during the development projects. At the school, there are 7 development centres.
